Make a statement about your vision.
Sub
categories:
1. Fixed or
Standard
2. Adjustable
3. Optics
Now, some
will say that concentration on the front sight is the most
important issue, which we agree with, whole heartedly. However,
when you are looking at the grand masters and national
champions, please remember that they shoot 50,000 rounds a
year. It is their job. They know how to aim their guns like
you and I know how to point at something with our finger.
Sights for them are not nearly as important as sights are for
you and me (the amateurs). When you have a lot of practice,
like I did when I was a kid and shot 1000 BBs and soda cans in
my back yard a week, you eventually didn’t need the sights.
Like the Wild West, you could just walk down a road, do a hip
shot and have all the accuracy in the world.
1) Fixed or Standard sights
-
Glock’s factory sights are not the greatest for
competition. We would highly recommend that you would
upgrade to a 3 dot system. It is the quickest and most
accurate system available, unless your personal preferences
and experiences dictate otherwise. Night-sights are the
best choice for these as they allow for both day and
nighttime shooting.
2) Adjustable sights
- If you
are going to be changing the distance of your shooting on a
regular basis, or your ammo selection, we highly recommend
going with adjustable sights. Adjustable sights allow you
to hone in your sights to the conditions you are shooting.
3) Optics
- There
is a wide variety with plenty of price differences.
Essentially, you get what you pay for.
What are
optics?
- Optics
are scopes. On hand guns, generally they are not
magnified. They are battery powered lasers that project a
single red dot on the lens that allow you to shoot with BOTH
EYES OPEN and achieve the fastest target position possible.
On some models, the size and intensity of the laser dot can
be adjusted for long range accuracy or quick acquisition.
There are
two different kinds of optic scopes: 1) tube style scope
(BSARD30), and 2) a heads-up display. The heads up display is,
generally speaking, the better and faster of the two. Tube
style is a tube with a lens of glass on each end of the tube.
The heads-up style is more like a projector, where there is a
lens towards the front of your weapon with a laser projecting
onto it. The heads up is less obtrusive to your field of view.
This is because your eyes are not focused through a tube.
Heads-up are used by more professionals and are usually more
expensive. Again, as with most things in life, you get what you
pay for.
